Life As A Playlist or…It’s beginning to look…….

a lot like Christmas down here on the farm! Got the cabins all decked out and now trying to motivate to get our own home ready!

Ohhh..the snow..makes her look so festive!!

To keep the festive Holiday spirit a rollin…Here is a playlist of my favorite Christmas songs. A little bit about me that you probably don’t know is that I love Christmas songs! So much, in fact, that I play them all year long!! So, submitted for your entertainment, here are some of my favorites:

1) Here Comes Santa Claus, by the Mills Brothers. This is kind of an old one, but it is a great one!

2) Snoopy’s Christmas by the Royal Guardsman. When I was little, I had this on a 45, man I’m old!

3) Tiny Tree Christmas by Guster. Never had too many Tiny Trees, having grown up on a Christmas Tree farm, but hey, it’s a cool song!

4) Celebrate Me Home by Kenny Loggins.

5) Wizards In Winter by Trans Siberian Orchestra

6) O Holy Night by Reba McEntire

7) God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen by Bare Naked Ladies

8) Go Tell It On The Mountain by Dolly Parton. Love me some Dolly, I do!

9) You’ll Never Find My Christmas by Bishop Allen

10) Chirstmastime Is Here by Vince Guaraldi Trio

So, hope you and yours have a Happy Happy Holiday Season! C’mon down and see us, we’d love to have you!

Valentines Day~Farm Style… (another Hidden Treasure)

I love DearFarmerHusband and he loves me, really. However, with moving back on the farm, both of us elbow deep in work, sometimes we don’t always get to celebrate holidays in the traditional manner! Let’s take for instance, Valentines Day,  most probably spending the evening in lovely restaurant surrounded by the atmosphere of romance. Us, not so much. DearFarmerHusband worked late and I spent the evening working on the Etsy shop and processing reservations for the upcoming weekend.  We opted to wait to the weekend and go out to breakfast at one of our favorite breakfast spots and Hocking Hills Hidden Treasure, the Village Cafe in nearby Laurelville!

This time, we both decided to go the omelet route. I chose the cheese omelet and added grilled mushrooms, extra cheddar and ham. DearFarmerHusband opted for the Philly Cheese Steak omelet, as pictured below:

Village Cafe Omlet for Blog

Yes, it is just as huge and tasty as it appears! You really gotta check this place out!!

Sometimes life just gets in the way of doing things the “right way”. Holidays don’t always get celebrated on the day the calendar tells us to, projects get put off, you do the things you need to-instead of the things you want to! Keep this in mind, if you need to make up a lost holiday, remake a special occasion-we are here for you.  Coming in for a birthday and you want a cake and decorations waiting, let us know. Want to celebrate Valentines Day in April, let us know. The only time you and yours can get together for Christmas is in July and you’d love to have a tree to gather around-LET US KNOW!! We know firsthand of life’s challenges and if we can be on your team (even for a little while) as your tackle those challenges-let us know, we’d love to! Check us out and give us an email or a call to start recovering your favorite lost holiday or just make a special occasion even more special!

Happy Valentines Day..or Life as a Playlist-Part 1

Happy Valentines Day! I have always enjoyed Valentines Day, I guess because it was my dad’s birthday and because I enjoy any excuse to eat candy and birthday cake.

Although the Cottage has been booked for a while (by a sweet couple who are repeat guests), the White Pine Cabin is available for a special couple! Sized just right for 2 and priced just right so you have plenty left over for the fanciest of gifts~only $100 per night. You can hardly get a hotel room for that!!

Now, for Life as a Playlist…Anyone who knows me knows I am never far from my iPod. Archaic and beat up as it is (she’ll be coming up on her 7th birthday soon), she is never far from my side. I have a playlist for every occasion. So, in the spirit of Valentines Day, I’ve created a playlist of my favorite love songs that rock…no sweet sappy slow stuff here!  So, grab your favorite life partner and rock on! In the spirit of fair play, I’ve included an equally rocking list of somebody’s done someone wrong songs…Submitted for your approval:

1) Stole my Heart by Little and Ashley

2) Must Have Done Something Right by Relient K (who just happen to be from Canton, Ohio-DearFarmerHusband’s hometown-Salut!)

3)Grow Old With You by Adam Sandler. I am trying to talk Emily and Clayton into walking down the aisle to this when they get married. I’ve even found a local guitarist/singer who already knows it!

4)  Bang Shang A Lang by the Archies. I grew up watching the Archies on Saturday morning (way baaacck when that was the only time you could see cartoons!!) and still have my comics and record albums. (You can skip to .50 if you aren’t interesting learning the Bubblegum from Jughead!)

5) From My Heart To Yours by Laura Izibor

6) Ain’t Nothing ‘Bout You by Brooks and Dunn

Now, in the spirit of fair play…

1) The Happening by the Supremes.

2) I’m So Happy I Can’t Stop Crying by Toby Keith and Sting

3 You Dropped A Bomb On Me by The Gap Band. Funny story-neither of the farm dogs are a fan of the Gap Band. When I play this song, FarmDogBuddy gets all uptight when he hears the sounds of the bombs dropping. When I play Burn Rubber, FarmDogDougal gets all wound up at the sound of the motorcycle in the beginning. Odd dogs, they are.

4) Long Time Lovin You by McGuffey Lane. These guys are definitely in it for the long haul, I remember listening to them back in the 80’s while driving to Big Walnut High School. (Also native Ohioans!)

5) All Of Me by Louis Armstrong.

6) Stronger by Kelly Clarkson.

BONUS: Because I had so much fun doing this and because it’s Valentines and we love our guests……

~ Would You Go With Me by Josh Turner

~Don’t Leave M This Way by Thelma Houston

We’d love to have you enjoy Valentines Day with us!!
